Unionville’s Chris Forster sees growing support of candidate committee

FARMINGTON, CONN - Fiscal conservative Chris Forster formed a candidate committee on April 1 for the Connecticut General Assembly’s 21st House District. Forster, a Republican who serves on Farmington’s Zoning Board of Appeals, was unanimously endorsed by the Farmington Republican Town Committee in advance of the

Farmington Republican caucus that will be held in May. District 21 covers Farmington and Unionville.

Forster, 32, is a strong fiscal conservative who was overwhelmingly elected to the Farmington Zoning Board of Appeals during last year’s Republican sweep of all Farmington town offices. Forster is active in several community groups, serving as board member for the Exchange Club, commissioner for the Unionville Historic District and commissioner for Farmington’s Conservation and Inlands Wetlands Commission.

“I am proud to be highly active in the community and am hearing increasing passion from citizens about ushering in much-needed fiscal responsibility at the Capitol in Hartford,” Forster said. “Voters want change because they are tired of seeing Connecticut losing businesses, losing people and losing hope. I will stand up against the tax hikes and legislative power grabs that are hurting Connecticut communities.”

As an accomplished government finance professional with a reputation for relentless pursuit of efficiency, Forster has the background necessary to bring fiscal responsibility to the General Assembly. Forster is a Certified Government Financial Manager and is comptroller for the Connecticut State Colleges and Universities Board of Regents.

“I am passionate about public service and smart, effective government, but we’re not getting that from Governor Malloy and his allies in the General Assembly right now,” Forster said. “Families and businesses in Farmington, Unionville and Connecticut at large are not benefiting from state government’s rampant tax hikes and wasteful spending, and neither is the state economy. Our campaign is hearing from voters about saying ‘no’ to tax hikes through fiscal restraint, protecting local districts like ours and pursuing policies that benefit Connecticut’s economy instead of harming it.”

Forster and his wife, Dr. Jessica Forster, a veterinarian, live in Unionville with their daughter, Delilah. The Forster’s are graduates of the University of Connecticut, where Chris earned a bachelor’s degree in economics and political science and a master of public administration degree. When his wife finished undergraduate work and began earning her doctorate at Oklahoma State University, Chris held multiple senior finance positions in city and state government in Oklahoma, where he helped usher in financial and operational reforms that saved and reduced government spending by millions of dollars while improving efficiency. The Forsters returned to Connecticut to raise their family in their home state.
