Chris Forster is the Republican nominee for House District 21
Farmington Republican Caucus unanimously nominates Chris Forster for House District 21 in Connecticut General Assembly
FARMINGTON, CONN – The Farmington Republican Caucus on Tuesday unanimously selected accomplished government finance professional Chris Forster as the Republican nominee for House District 21, covering Farmington and Unionville.
The unanimous nomination follows Forster’s overwhelming election to the Farmington Zoning Board of Appeals during last year’s Republican sweep of all Farmington town offices.
Former Connecticut Insurance Commissioner George Reider enthusiastically nominated Forster. “Chris is an outstanding candidate and Farmington is fortunate to have him come to the forefront. Chris is energetic and has expertise in the very areas we need to fix the state,” said Reider.
“Our campaign is thrilled to receive the strong support from the Farmington Republican Caucus. We are energized to continue last year’s momentum and I’m ready to help build a brighter future in Connecticut by focusing on building a healthy economy, creating a job friendly environment and stronger fiscal responsibility in the General Assembly,” Forster said.
Forster, a strong fiscal conservative, said his focus on jobs and the economy plus his reputation as a relentless champion for financial and operational efficiency in government was highly appealing to the Farmington Republican Caucus.
“Helping government deliver important services the public relies on in a more fiscally conservative and ultimately more effective manner is my passion,” Forster said.
After earning a bachelor’s degree in economics and political science and a master of public administration degree from the University of Connecticut, Forster held multiple senior finance positions in city and state government in Oklahoma. In those roles, he helped usher in financial and operational reforms that saved and reduced government spending by millions of dollars while improving efficiency.
Forster, 32, returned to Connecticut to serve as Controller for the Board of Regents for the Connecticut State Colleges and Universities.
Nancy Nickerson, Farmington Town Council Chair said “I’m proud to endorse Chris Forster’s candidacy for state rep. Chris possesses the sound fiscal policy, public administration skills and finance experience to fight out-of-control spending and high taxes for which Connecticut has become infamous. I hope you’ll join me in supporting him this November at the polls.”
“Helping Connecticut thrive with better jobs and a smarter economy first requires righting state government’s fiscal ship. Voters are excited to have a candidate with the background necessary to tighten up state government finances and operations so Connecticut can achieve the lower taxes it needs to encourage economic growth,” Forster said.
Forster, who holds a Certificate in Public Financial Management, is active in several community groups, serving as board member for the Exchange Club, commissioner for the Unionville Historic District and commissioner for Farmington’s Zoning Board of Appeals.
Forster and his wife, Dr. Jessica Forster, a veterinarian, live in Unionville with their daughter, Delilah. The Forsters, both graduates of the University of Connecticut, lived in Oklahoma while Jessica earned her doctorate at Oklahoma State University. They returned to Connecticut to raise their family and settled in Unionville for the area’s historic charm, high quality town services, nationally recognized school system and fiscally responsible government.
